"Let's Talk, Let's Listen is an activity-based listening and speaking text designed to improve everyday conversational skills. Its learner-centered approach focuses on themes that are relevant to students' personal experiences, like family life and adjusting to a new country; on topics drawn from the social sciences; and on global issues such as cultural differences, communication, and the environment.
Each of the text's ten thematic units features Listening Activities, Conversational Strategies, and Learning Strategies that promote communicative skills and functional use of language. The units open with clearly delineated learning goals and close with a self-evaluation to aid students in tracking their own progress. Boxed items throughout the units offer visual variety in the text, illustrations clarify concepts, and cartoons highlight the humor that can be found in misunderstanding.
