"Canadian Business English, Seventh Edition, is the Canadian version of Mary Ellen Guffey's well-known and successful Business English text. The bold and innovative approach taken by Dr. Guffey in Business English continues to appeal to instructors and students in Canada and the United States. Since 1995 Canadian Business English has helped thousands of Canadian students improve their language skills. This edition of Canadian Business English continues to offer Canadian students the tools they need to reach excellence in language skills while reflecting today's Canadian workplace landscape and the new technologies and challenges facing students in their professional life.
Canadian Business English, Seventh Edition, largely retains the content and sequencing of previous editions. This most recent update, however, further reflects the massive effects of technology on business communication, emphasizes professional vocabulary, and focuses on the employment skills of editing and proofreading. The Editor's Challenges, several of them new, include the kind of spelling errors spell-checkers do not recognize, common typographical and homophone errors, and sentence faults. Throughout the text, these challenges build in other common errors cumulatively as they are studied. In addition, many explanations have benefited from simplified language and fewer passive-voice constructions to create easier-to-understand lessons." (Preface, p. vii)
